Getting A New Dad
No words can describe the level of evil that a little boy named Ronnie had to endure. His dad not only attacked and killed his mother & sister right in front of him, he also attacked him with the same intention. Somehow after being stabbed 20 times and set on fire, the little boy survived. Adding literal insult to injury this tortured young man had to testify in court where his dad stood as his own defense attorney allowing him to cross-examine Ronnie. In one brief audio clip from the trial the dad asks, "how did I hurt you?" to which the young man confidently said, "you stabbed me!" Ronnie told interviewers, "I stood my ground." when they asked him what it was like to face his dad in court again.

During Ronnie's hospital stay and recovery time he was visited by a very different kind of man, named Mike Blair who also happened to be the Hillsborough County Sherriff. Maybe sensing that Mike was a good man or maybe just needing a male role model that he could lean on for a brief moment, Ronnie asked Mike if he would hang out with him and watch a movie. Mike and wife Danyel not only obliged but they both knew in their hearts that they wanted to include him into their home. As the Inside Edition Youtube description reads, "Five months later, the Blair family grew from seven to eight when they adopted Ronnie."
When the news team asked Sherriff Blair about Ronnie's enduring resilience he stated, "He has to be a miracle given the injuries he sustained. And what he went through there is absolutely no [logical] reason he should be alive." Blair, who was assigned to Ronnie's case admits it to be the most gruesome one he has ever had to investigate. Thankfully his former dad was convicted for his crimes and his new dad is providing a life that Ronnie deserves...one of love, compassion, stability, and peace. "I did know that I would love to be his mom. He's a joy to have around the house," says Danyel when asked about the motivation to take the youngster in. Though nothing will fully erase losing his mom and sister or the mental and emotional wounds of being viscously attacked by his birth father, Ronnie now has the foundation and family to let healing begin.
