Ten Year Old Reporter

Image
Jeremiah with Davante  Good reporters with poise and professionalism are normally seasoned with years of experience. It makes sense, especially when dealing with celebrities, that one would have to work through rookie jitters and get a few exchanges under their belt before becoming truly polished. But even then, broadcasting professionals can still struggle and fumble with words or even become star struck themselves. Not the case at all for Jeremiah Fennell, a ten year old boy with a passion to become a sports reporter.  After his initial interview with Davante Adams broke the internet, the young man was invited to appear on Fox & Friends where a befuddled and seasoned broadcast team peppered him with questions about his ability to be so poised and professional. "I was just there talking to him [Davante] like a normal reporter. I wasn't really scared because in the end we are all people." A Heart of Gratitude

Yoel & his wife Marissa  We Americans  often fail to realize how blessed we are. As such we get embroiled in online debate about our government system, its ugly failures, and even go so far as to suggest changing the system entirely rather than just work out the problematic parts. Cuban immigrants like Yoel Diaz do not understand that kind of mentality. He worked hard to escape a communist regime and be afforded just the basic opportunities that a democracy like the US allows.  In his search for a better life and opportunity he was able to immigrate last year and begin his employ as a seasonal worker for UPS. Though a very qualified computer science teacher in his own country, his wages for this knowledge are only $12 per month, an income that does not support his needs just for basics like shelter, food, and bills paid. In the now viral video below (filmed by his wife) a very grateful Yoel states, " This is my first hourly paycheck. I feel every hour counted. That ev...

Brave Rescue on NYC Subway

Image
Twenty three year old, Cornell student Bryce Demopoulos was recently caught on MTA (Metropolitan Transportation Authority) camera helping a man in need. As the student entered the subway platform awaiting his connection that would usher him to his summer job at Weill Cornell Medicine, he observed a man stumble off the platform and onto the tracks. Initially Bryce assumed the man would just hop right back out but it became clear as the man shouted that he was not capable of doing so without help.  So without thinking, Demopoulos jumped into the subway rail line with an oncoming train headed for the pair in effort to assist the fallen man back onto the platform. "I didn't really think about it too much. I saw somebody who was obviously in trouble and I was in a position to help him. It didn't really occur to me that it was dangerous in the moment - I just feel like I had the responsibility to just hop in and help him when he needed it." It was not until footage of his h...
