Hole in a Wall Discovered, Big Time

The term 'hole in a wall' usually refers to a little known but very good restaurant. But due to its unpretentious and out of the way characteristics many places that fit that definition never truly get discovered. In a post-covid world many independent restaurateurs having rolled the dice to open up their dream business were left with nothing to show for it except for tears, unpaid debts, and closed doors. That was the path Frank Steele, owner of Frankensons Pizzeria in Las Vegas was on prior to self made TikTok food critic Keith Lee entering the scene.

Keith had already developed a decent following and for him this was just another visit to a little known establishment to provide an online review of the food, whether it was good, bad, or something in the middle. After just one bite of the wings though he proclaimed it to be "one of the best wings I've ever had." Then holding up a slice of pizza he remarked about the enormous size of the pepperonis and then sunk his teeth into it proclaiming it to be a 9.8 out of 10.

Keith's compliments didn't stop there. He told his online audience, "I called in my order and Frank, who was the owner was so nice, like he was so patient, he was kind, and I was ordering and he was like take your time." That is what really struck Lee initially was the customer service. Having spent a majority of his adult life in customer service roles himself, that part of the experience was very important especially since Frank had no idea who Keith was and therefore could not just put on a show for the food critic.

After posting his rave reviews of the entire dining experience the line for the restaurant went out the door and down the street. Their TikTok page went from having 2665 followers to 73,600 in just 24 hours. Orders were so prevalent that they went from making around 4 plates of food in a day to 400. It was so crazy that the staff was working from open to close without lunch breaks forcing Frank to temporarily close so everyone could catch their breath. This was a very different and welcome kind of problem to be dealing with and it is all thanks to a guy who also had a dream of his own. Starting an online food review channel where he could eat cuisine and just be himself. How appropriate and fitting then is it that both men crossed paths and in many ways watched their individual dreams reach success together?
