The Trash Boys Are a True Teasure

While most teens are enjoying sleeping in over the summer, siblings Andre Willis and Drevian Arrington want no part of it. Instead they decided to start a business that would help their community, Garfield Heights. Each morning starts with a daily affirmation to get themselves in the right state of mind. Then a patrol begins where the two boys pick up litter on the streets around them. This part of the job is free and when asked about it Andre stated, "It just looks a lot better. Cleaner. Feels better. And its our home." Well neighbors have noticed so perhaps this part of the work doubles as a marketing campaign of sorts.

Their flyer lists their paid services which includes taking your trashcans to the curb the day before trash day and yard clean-up listing both a weekly and a monthly rate depending on your budget.

Their primary demographic tends to be the elderly who can no longer easily get around, much less haul two large & heavy containers to the curb each week. Though inspired by a TikTok page showing young people how to develop money making ideas their mom says, "It's not even about the money because they don't make a lot of money. It's about them building character, learning communication skills, developing a value system as far as community."

Across the street neighbor Thomas Freeman would have to agree and even compliments the family stating, "[They] are going about it the right way. That is the way we were brought up coming up in the 50's and 60's. And I see we still got some left...good parents." Freeman often stops to talk to the boys and give them encouragement when he sees them out working hard.
