Don't Mess With This Sister

With the value of metals like copper continuing to go up, so are the cases of theft to commercial buildings where air conditioning equipment is accessible. You would think even criminals might leave a Christian Community Center in Buffalo New York alone but that was not the case. Two men decided it was a prime target and went about setting up a tall, heavy metal ladder (despite a wintery flurry) so they could climb on the roof and extract their coveted prize. Little did they know, they had stepped on the turf of Sister Mary Johnice who had no intention of making their heist easy.

"As I was walking down the stairs, I heard pounding and noise. And that's what told me to open the door." where she noticed the ladder to be stationed. Putting the clues together the 76 year-old, crime fighting nun decided to maroon the man on the roof by knocking over his escape route. Despite the ladder's weight she managed to wrestle it free and disconnect it from the rooftop causing the thief to look for alternatives if he wanted to get away.

Sadly that is exactly what happened. One man, who never went on the roof, had already vacated the premises and the rooftop thief did find another option for getting down. As he shimmied down a back wall and onto a chain linked fence structure he was met with Sister Mary, her wagging finger, and stern warning to "Get away...go! This is God's place". She must have motivated him because he did flee rapidly. So while the story did not end with either man in cuffs or behind bars, they now know not to mess with this location. Plus, as it turns out, the community center does not have any copper components to steal anyway, so the entire caper was truly thwarted. Props to Sister Johnice for doing her part in protecting her domain.
