Buffalo PD Taking Care of Their Community

Buffalo has been in the news quite a bit lately. The blizzard has been a history making event blasting the area with record amounts of snow resulting in stories of heroism and tragedy. The Buffalo Bills NFL team just a couple weeks ago saw the sudden collapse of Damar Hamlin after a jolting blow to his chest. In all of these stories the common thread seems to be a community of resilient people rallying around and with one another to endure whatever is thrown at them. So it should be of no surprise that the Buffalo Police department would join in with a gesture of goodwill of their own.

Captain Beyer noticed a young man named Nyejay trying his best to get to school on a broken bicycle. His pedal had fallen off making it difficult to operate by the teen's resolve was not shaken as he attempted to use a socket from a socket wrench set to replace the broken part. Though potential ingenious, the idea barely got the bike moving so when the captain saw the struggle, he gave the young man a ride to school and took the bike back to the station to see about getting some guys together to repair it. But they did a bit more than that.

The department rallied together and all pitched in enough funds to buy the young man a brand new bike. CIT Lieutenant Turello from the D District also provided a lock for the bike and presented both to him when school was out. Lieutenant Exum of the E District, still busy repairing the broken bike, has plans to fishish up the project and present one of Nyejay's family members with it. One of the officers when asked about the story said, "It was a pleasure to put a smile on this man's face, who was determined to get to school no matter what."
